Schweinehund

is another German word which is rather difficult to translate; especially ” der innere Schweinehund”. I vote for integrating it into the English language as it is. Together with Schadenfreude, ersatz, Gemutlichkeit and many more, it would make a nice selection.

  1. Just wondering…are you back from Spain yet? I am leaving for Spain on Saturday…not Madrid though.

  2. Hi Maik,

Yes, I’m back since two weeks already. It only took a while to publish all the impressions I had. I feel like going back…

Where are you going? Hope you’ll enjoy!

  3. Just back from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Not holidays though – work. But I certainly did enjoy it, most of all the food (although, on second thoughts, living in the UK for the rest of the year, that is not saying much). And incredibly friendly people. I managed to get a cold there, which I consider quite a feat, given that it was always between 22 and 27 degrees Centigrade and I managed to get sunburn as well…

  4. I wouldn’t mind to work in Gran Canaria. Actually, I’m thinking how to move our office there. And, just on the second thought: I love the food in the UK – the pasties, backed beans, and all the other stuff.
Sunburn and cold is a nasty combination… Pobrecito!
